June 21, 2025 marks the date of a significant astronomical event. On this day, there will be a total solar eclipse visible from a narrow path across the globe. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, blocking the Sun’s light. This particular eclipse will be the first total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States since August 21, 2017.
The path of the total eclipse will begin in Mexico and move across the United States from Oregon to South Carolina. Observers within this path will have a chance to witness the Sun’s corona, which is normally hidden by the Sun’s bright light. The total eclipse will last for up to 3 minutes and 50 seconds, depending on the observer’s location. Outside the path of totality, a partial solar eclipse will be visible.
