The 2025 New York City mayoral election will be held on November 5, 2025, to elect the 111th mayor of New York City. The Democratic and Republican primaries will be held on June 24, 2025. The general election will be held on November 5, 2025.
The election will be the first mayoral election since the implementation of ranked-choice voting in New York City. Ranked-choice voting allows voters to rank their candidates in order of preference. If no candidate receives a majority of first-place votes, the candidate with the fewest first-place votes is eliminated, and their votes are redistributed to their second-choice candidates. This process continues until one candidate receives a majority of votes.
